I'm Jojo, and I'm excited to share with you my latest project - Under the Island! I'm not alone in this, though. SchmoeDraws and a secret composer (more on that later) are helping me, along with a few other talented individuals.
About the Game
Now, let me tell you a bit about the game. Under the Island is a 2D action RPG that's currently being developed for PC (with other platforms still to be determined). You'll play as Nia, a 17-year-old girl who's recently moved to Seashell Island with her archaeologist parents. Initially, Nia isn't too thrilled about the move, but as she embarks on an adventure, she learns to love the island and its inhabitants.
Your mission is to explore the island, uncover its secrets, and obtain four ancient artifacts. The order in which you do this is completely up to you. Along the way, you'll discover a plethora of items that allow you to interact with the world, unlock new areas, solve puzzles, and battle a variety of monsters. Under the Island is all about exploration and experimentation.
How hard can development be?
I've been working on this game for five years now, and what started as a hobby has become my main focus. While I can't say for certain when it will be released, 2024 is looking like a strong possibility. Good things take time, after all.
When you first play Under the Island, I hope to recreate the feeling you had when you first played an RPG as a child or teenager. That sense of waking up early on a Saturday morning to catch Pokemon or defeat Ganon, chatting with friends about the latest Dragon Quest secrets, or staying up all night to defeat Ultima Weapon in Final Fantasy. Let's be real - I may not quite capture that exact feeling, but if I can give you even a glimpse of that sense of diving into a captivating world, that's all I could ask for.
